Geese

Meet our resident gaggle of snake catchers/ deterrents.  Apparently geese are great for preventing snakes, which on a property in north Queensland is huge advantage.

We got our geese from the owner of a larger property who was moving out of time. She had had them from goslings and were about 11 months old when they joined us at Maes-y-Delyn. Within the week she emailed to say she had had her first snake in over a year.

We are not entirely sure of the sex of our geese. I am confident 1 is a boy- I have been told males have a small bump/lump on the top of their heads. One definitely does, he the only white goose with flashes of dark grey in the wings.

One of the other white geese also appears to have a lump, though it is smaller. So we may infact have 2 geese and 2 ganders.
